This is *not* my day. In fact, it's not my *week*
There will be no more fic today. Sorry.
Try again tomorrow.
Okay, so five seconds ago I was squeeing like a mad thing because I could *finally* change my layout to the one I've had my eye on for at _least_ a year now. So I did.
All the formatting that I spent forever and a day figuring out how to do is fucked up beyond all recognition when it's displayed on the layout. Except for lj-cuts.
I have *no fucking idea* how to change it so it works. I also have no idea what my previous layout was or how I got it to look that way - I do know that that particular style took me at least 20hrs to figure out and get done to my satisfaction. (Which admittedly wasn't very good, but at least it fucking *worked* dammit!)
*facepalms* Why? _Why did this have to happen at now?_
I am not coherent enough for this crap and I have no sprite to wake myself up with. Grrrr...
Have I not been through enough shit this week???
...Actually, forget that last line. Mum's having a much worse week than me, I really have nothing to complain about since I still have a guaranteed income. O.o!!!!
Yeah, don't ask me why they decided to fire her for going to a call out for the volunteer fire-brigade. That she's been a member of for at least 2 years (maybe 3, my memory's kinda fuzzy) which was *way* before she even got the job.
The guy was *impaled on a canoe* for chrissake! How is she not supposed to turn out for that?
And what if it was a house/scrub fire or a major pile up on the highway?
How is she supposed to ignore these things when she is one of the few in the district that is qualified to deal with them, let alone the whole bloody country?!
In the Horowhenua district the fire-brigade also acts as the paramedics until the ambulances arrive - which can be anywhere between 30min to a few hours, since there's about 4 max that can be called on at any one time. These 4 ambulances cover a distance of 543km between each of the nearest hospitals, and that is straight from one to the other on the highway, not the backroads or out in the wops of any of the districts.
The nearest hospital is about an hour to the north, the best one is 2 hours south in Wellington. Seems so samll a distance, but if those ambulances are tied up and there aren't any life-flights then you are royally screwed. This is *why* the brigade asks that employers of their crews are understanding if someone has to turn out to a call, or even several during business hours. They are the first line of defence for almost *anything* in the area pertaining to accidents/fire/emergency aid. This was not her only motivation for joining the brigade.
My little brother *died* on that highway.
There was nothing anyone could do for him cause he died on impact. Mum decided a few weeks after he died to join up. If she could help just *one* person, *one* family in that situation, -or any other for that matter- then she damn well would do whatever it took. And now these bastards want to fire her for it?!!!
Yeah, I could go on for hours about this, but I'm too tired and upset to see the keyboard.
So disappointed in the world right now.
